Nightingales

It starts with a chorus of Nightingales. That turn to whispers and sordid tales.

Words were spoken to the broken hearted. “We told you so” when the whole thing started.

I started look for a four leaf clover. Maybe light a candle now the whole things over.

There’s only one key to fit in my front door and only one shadow moves across my floor.

Don’t tell me that love is overrated. Can’t you see how long i’ve waited.

It’s starts with a chorus of Nightingales. Shooting stars flying everywhere.

The fiery passion then starts to burn and a lovers glance now becomes a glare.

The whole thing started with a girl in your arms. Was she mesmerised by those boyish charms.

Well things ran smooth for a year or two. Now she can’t stand the site of you.

It starts with a chorus of Nightingales All that’s left is whispers and sordid tales.

Hanging Around

Hey why you hanging around?

Have you nowhere to go

You had a head full of dreams now the petrols running low

Kick start it again with heartbeats and ideas.

F!!k your faxes and taxes and computer careers.

You see them packed in queues , full of drunken abuse.

Going in for the kill, all sweat and tattoos.

Somebody went down, lying still on the ground.

Got to ask yourself why are you still hanging around.

See the kids throwing bricks. See the kids throwing tricks.

All thinner than sticks looking for their next fix.

You just plug yourself in and turn up the sound.

You should ask yourself why, are you still hanging around.

You need to make a call and figure out your solution

Go tell the world now it’s time for a new revolution.

Racing Cars

We live our lives like Racing Cars and dream of going faster.

Tuning in to the headline news to bypass each disaster.

Our days are marked like playing cards I don’t want a life here after.

Too much time spent covering up the tasks we never master.

Oh let the rain come down and wash all over me. Oh let the rain come down and wash away this misery.

Do what we like and take what we want with no thought of surrender.

Though we fight it doesn’t make things right, keeping one eye on the lender.

We spend our lives on the telephone and weigh up each contender.

Our thoughts are placed into the box and returned to the sender.

Oh let the rains come down and wash all over me. Oh let the rains come down and wash away my misery.

Wedding Belles

Wedding Belles

The church bells rang, the choir sang, then came the horse and carriage.

In came her dad, small and dressed in plaid, couldn’t trap a pig in a passage.

Doors open wide, here comes the bride, nana says she was a beauty.

The nervous groom, amused the room and then turned to perform his duty.

The flower girls, chewing gum and curls, all jostled for position.

The best man tried, to catch the eye of the bride, with whom he’d had a secret liaison.

The brides step mum, still tasting the rum, that she’d drank the night before.

Was not impressed and said, the brides mams short dress, made her look just like a whore.

They said i do, which is what you do, and the cameras flashed like blazers.

The old priest then left, to watch his TV bet on the 1.30 at Redcar races.

The wedding grub, was at the working mans club, and the bars free until 3.30.

Where the ladies wait, to fill the plate, of the men all sweating and thirsty.

The after dinner speeches, from some very strange creatures, all gave sound advice.

Then the best man rose, and gave a toast, but his speech unsettled your wife.

Mate, do you remember this, when we were pissed, and a naked girl called Stella?

She stole your watch when she felt your crotch and turned out to be a fella.

Threats of a quick divorce never reached the courts but she still calls you a traitor.

On a girls holiday, to Whitley Bay, you heard she’d had a fling with a waiter.

Ten years on, two girls and a son, you think the slates wiped clean.

But when she’s has a drink and doesn’t care to think she can be so mean.

No Heart. No Soul.

Who is going to put out.

The fires that you started.

Conspiring with your friends,

With no consequence.

A tag team full of fools,

Breaking all the rules.

This is how you roll,

No heart and no soul.

Charity began at home ,

Around the garden he would roam.

The money raised,

Didn’t cover your corrupt waste.

We stood and clapped our hands,

You made secret plans.

With consulting roles,

No heart and no soul.

Less time spent at the front,

But you still look a chump.

Lying on my TV screen,

Always blame the other team.

Beside the Union Jack,

Better watch you back.

As others eye your role,

With no heart and no soul

Newcastle Brown

There was a man from Stockton Town

Who drank too much Newcastle Brown

From a barrel or bottle

He drank on full throttle

Until his underpants turned rusty brown.

I wish you were closer.

From the bus I saw you lying, still upon on the floor.

You hadn’t moved and looked much colder, than the night before.

A pigeon pecked.

Then came the gulls.

I double checked.

Not for a pulse.

But for a taste.

I’m not one to waste.

Oh Samosa.

I wish you were closer.
